Luther Carroll Lillard (1888-1924)

Luther Carroll Lillard, son of Jesse Watson Lillard and Martha "Mattie" Lillard, was born on October 20, 1888 in Randolph County, AR.  He married Beulah Webber, with whom he had six children:  Irene, Alberta, Anna, Paul Monroe, Inez, and Wallace.

Luther's life was tragically cut short when he was shot by a neighbor on December 17, 1924. Luther was living in Tyronza, AR at the time. The following comments on Luther's death come from a handwritten family history produced by one of my great aunts (I believe in the early to mid-1960s):

The shock of [Luther's] death was so very hard for all the family.  The man really had no excuse for shooting him (there was a little dispute over some chickens crossing over into his yard). He was sent to the pen for life, but was paroled after 6 years (with tuberculosis).

Thomas Frederick Lillard (1886-1953)

Thomas Frederick Lillard was born August 1, 1886 to Jesse Watson and Mattie Lillard.  He married miss Mazzie Gamil, with whom he had seven children:  Lena Lillard, Ralph Lillard, Curtis Lillard, Clair Lillard, Dorothy Lillard, Juanita Lillard, and F. Eugene Lillard.

Thomas died on March 1, 1953 in Tyronza, AR.

Minnie Everett (Lillard) Perkins (1890-1964)

Minnie Everett Lillard was born on December 16, 1890 in the little town of Evening Shade, AR to Jesse Watson Lillard and Martha "Mattie" Cassandra Porter.  She married Charles Oliver Perkins on January 31, 1909.  Minnie and Charles had ten children together:  Charles Edward Perkins, Thomas Oliver Perkins, Jessie Raymond Perkins, Chester Aaron Perkins, Lester Marion Perkins, Glen Everett Perkins, Mattie Luella Perkins, James Leo Perkins, Eugene Perkins, and Alta Ruth Perkins.

Minnie (Lillard) Perkins died on January 21, 1964 in Tyronza, AR.

John Watson Lillard (1882 - 1951)

John Watson Lillard was the son of Jesse Watson Lillard and Martha "Mattie" Cassandra Porter.  John Watson was born on May 1, 1882 in Evening Shade, AR.  He married Hazel Cowley around May 1903.

Apparently, John Watson decided to follow in his father's footsteps by siring his own tribe.  He and Hazel had eleven children:  Daisy Marie (Lillard) Dover (b. April 4, 1904); Mable Lenore (Lillard) Johnson (b. March 7, 1906); Jesse Edward Lillard (b. January 3, 1909); Mattie Almeda Lillard (b. October 22, 1910); George Washington Lillard (b. February 22, 1913); John Woodrow Lillard (b. October 15, 1915); Ruby Helen Lillard (b. October 25, 1915); Nettie May Lillard (b. September 14, 1922); Hazel Drucella Lillard (b. March 27, 1924); Katie Elizabeth Lillard (b. August 7, 1926); and Taylor Eugene Lillard (b. March 16, 1929).

John Watson Lillard died in March 26, 1951 in Harrisburg, AR.

Note:  At least one record indicates John Watson and Hazel (Hasel) were actually married in 1904

Lula Lenora (Lillard) McMullin (1880 - 1929)

Lula Lenora Lillard was the daughter of Jesse Watson Lillard and Martha "Mattie" Cassandra Porter.  She was born January 29, 1880 and died on January 14, 1929 in Tyronza, AR.  Lula was married to Aaron E. McMullin. It appears that Aaron and Lula did not have any children.

Note:  Aaron's last name is also spelled McMullen in some records.

[Aaron] was a law student in the office of J. T. Lomax in Randolph County. -- Randolph County Abstracts 5-4-1893.

[He] also was the representative for Water Valley Township at the Democratic Central Committee of Randolph County, Arkansas. -- Randolph County Abstracts 5-13-1893.

Peter Owen Lillard (1877 - 1963)

Peter Owen Lillard (b. November 4, 1877) was the son of Jesse Watson Lillard and Martha "Mattie" Cassandra Porter.  According to one account, he married Janie Kimball on Christmas day 1898 in Water Valley, AR. 

Peter and Janie had two children:  Clarence M. Lillard (b. November 23, 1899; d. August 8, 1949) and Walter Lillard (b. January 6, 1903; d. February 14, 1963)

Peter Owen Lillard died on July 21, 1963 in Tyronza, AR.

Richard Lillard (1876 - 1906)

Richard Lillard was the son of Jesse Watson Lillard and Martha "Mattie" Cassandra Porter.  I have found some records that indicate his name was Richard G. Lillard, but others that refer to him as Richard Eugene Lillard. Consequently, I'm leaving it as Richard Lillard for the time being.

He was born on June 11, 1876 in Ash Flat, AR.  Richard married Mollie Besheares in March or April of 1898.  Richard and Mollie had four children:  Roy Lillard (b. 1900), Pansey P. (Lillard) Baker (b. December 10, 1898 in MO; d. February 17, 1981 in Contra Costa, CA), Paul Eugene Lillard (b. April 22, 1902), and Edith Lillard (b. 1904 or 1905).

Richard Lillard died on March 3, 1906 in Water Valley, AR.

Note:  I have found an alternate spelling of Mollie's name: Molly Beshears.
Additional notes of interest:

Molly was a piano teacher.  [Her] father was Squire Henderson "Henry" Beshears. Henry's name was originally "Brashears" but was changed after the Civil War. Molly was probably named after Henry's older sister, Margaret "Molly" Melinda Brashears, who saved his life and the life of his younger brother during the Civil War by smuggling them north to say with relatives until the was was over.

Molllie died on July 10, 1922 in Walnut Ridge, AR
