Nettie Meadows (Lillard) Davis (1895-1962)

Nettie Meadows Lillard (sometimes called "Nettie Bell" or "Nettie Margurette" was born on February 10, 1895 in Water Valley township, Randolph County, AR to Jesse Watson Lillard and Martha "Mattie" Cassandra (Porter) Lillard.  Along with her parents, she moved to Tyronza, AR in 1906. She married Lee Davis in Ravenden Springs in 1916.  No children were born to this union

The couple made their home in Ravenden Springs, where Lee was in the mercantile business for a time with his father and two brothers--Jim and Clark.  After selling the store, Lee and Nettie farmed and raised stock, mules, and horses for sale.  Lee served in World War I after receiving training at Tulane University.  However, he was in theater only three months when the war ended.  Nettie died on October 26, 1962 and is buried in the Jones Cemetary in Randolph County, AR. (Porter genealogy)  An old family genealogy notes that at Nettie's funeral, "A very large crowd attended, and she had so many beautiful flowers.  She will be missed by all who knew her."

In the photo, Nettie is young woman in the back ground seated by herself with the hat.
